Grand Touring Garage 1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer (SEMA Gran Turismo A...

While searching for an old College friend, Phil Koenen, I ran across the discovery that he was the designer of the real car that was used by Sony as their #1 car in their video game! His car had won the SEMA awards contest!

In college, while his other friends, me included, were on our way to the beach (Newport Beach, CA) he'd be meticulously working on his car, I believe it was a '62-'64 or thereabouts 356 Porsche. He would present to us such car parts as a brass plated wheel bolt, then chrome plated to look exceptionally shiny. A couple of us were into motorcycles so he brought to our attention a 400cc Suzuki that he'd made into a cafe racer with full fairing and fully painted with beautiful blue and biege pinstriping; always to a degree that was flawless and full muscle intent.

Before graduation, he had fully restored a 1928 Chrysler Model 72 Roadster while we were operating on a slightly different plateau. His stick-to-it-iveness was a marvel as well as finding the means to accomplish such things was on the edge of my comprehension. But he certainly showed us all that "inch by inch life is a cinch".  He always had vision and I was very glad to see he'd continued to accomplish great things!

Congrats, Phil!
